Patriotic Alliance leader Gayton McKenzie has confirmed PA Deputy President Kenny Kunene as the party’s mayoral candidate for the City of Joburg in next year’s local government elections.
Kunene, who has since resigned as councillor and MMC in the City of Joburg, is awaiting the outcome of an investigation after police found him at murder suspect Katiso Molefe’s house in Sandhurt in July.
McKenzie also announced on to party members via his live Facebook conversation the removal of Liam Jacobs as PA Tshwane mayoral candidate. Jacobs is now PA’s mayoral candidate for Cape Metro.
Jacobs was also announced as the party’s new president of its youth league.
In Ekhuruleni, Dino Petersen will stand as PA mayoral candidate. Jacobs’ replacement in Tshwane will be announced in due course. McKenzie also announced four provincial structures of the PA as well as leadership of the party’s youth and women’s leagues.
