Qwabe Royal Council to protest in demand of ancestral land

The Qwabe community of eNkwenkwezini under the kingship of iNkosi Bonokwakhe Gumede will embark on a protest action due to the community and Qwabe Royal Council’s dissatisfaction with the manner in which the government has mishandled the Makhosi Khosi Communal Trust.

In a statement, the Qwabe iNkwenkwezini Royal Council the government’s mishandling of the Trust
has resulted in the community not having access to their ancestral land “which further perpetuates their state of poverty as they cannot be self-sufficient”.

“We invite members of the media and other community members within the Tongaat area to join us in demanding the return of our ancestral land.”

The protest will take place tomorrow (Tuesday 10th May) at 9 am. It will start start from R102 Fairbreeze in Tongaat to 1 Main Ave, Maidstone Tongaat Hulett.
