The South African Communist Party (SACP) in the Central Karoo must be very bored to go to the trouble of writing a press release about how “shocked” they are that Patriotic Alliance (PA) president Gayton McKenzie was elected unopposed on Monday as the new mayor of the Central Karoo district.
For a party that never actually does anything but talk, we should probably not be surprised.
One has to wonder where their shock was when their national leader, Blade Nzimande, was accused by his director-general in the higher education department of interference with multibillion-rand tenders and irregular appointments.
Where is their shock that supposed “communists” like their leader insist on being ferried about at taxpayer expense in expensive blue-light SUVs?
Where was their shock when the Department of Higher Education and Training led by “communist” Nzimande, who, by the way, is very muted on free education, proposed a 4.23% tuition fee increase for the 2022 academic year, and a maximum of 6.23% for accommodation, at universities across the country.
Where is these pseudo communists’ shock when state-owned entities are wilfully being run down to pave way for their privatization?
These so-called communists are happy to be little mosquitos sucking at the blood of the government.
Gayton, for all his business acumen and commitment to the free market, is more of a socialist than anyone in this pretend SACP can ever claim to be.
Gayton will be selling the mayoral car to buy an ambulance. He is donating his entire salary to the people. He wants to create jobs and see real change in the district.
He is the embodiment of servant leadership.
The SACP has been in this very same district for decades, and yet unemployment has simply risen year after year. Hopelessness has risen year after year.
The SACP does not even have the courage to contest the elections on their own but instead continues to ride on the coattails of the ANC.
Let me remind these fake communists that unlike the parasitic mob including the likes of Nzimande and Thulas Nxesi who find themselves in government without contesting an election, Gayton is in his current position through the vote of people who endorsed the party he leads, the Patriotic Alliance.
All the SACP does all the time is to bark like a small dog. The Central Karoo District has fallen into disrepair, and Beaufort West is now so financially broken that it cannot even pay staff salaries every month.
Where was the SACP’s shock about that? It happened long before the PA was voted into the district.
Is the Central Karoo SACP even aware that their deputy general secretary, Solly Mapaila, was in the room when the PA’s national agreement to share power nationally with the ANC was agreed upon?
The same Mapaila was only too friendly then. Now the PA and its leader must be insulted by the very same SACP who can see no good in our leader, who claims he is nothing more than a “self-centred opportunist”.
These corrupt bunch of stomach politicians masquerading as socialists have absolutely no moral authority to lecture anyone on public service.
SACP, first get your own house in order and take responsibility for your own failings before joining the brigade of “shocked” politicians.
When the Karoo becomes the best-run district in the country, what will you say then?
I instruct these quasi-socialists whose leadership has done absolutely nothing to change the lives of the poor despite being in government for nearly three decades to sit down, watch and learn what genuine, selfless public service means.

I agree 100% with Mr Kenny Kunene. He is speaking truth to power as our DP for the PA! Salute PA!
Like that the PA wants to prove that they are able to lead by taking power and demonstrating to us that they can govern a clean administration free from maladministration and corruption. if they can do this, I think that the PA will have my vote coming national election. All the best PA.
The SACP is died. They are a shadow of their former self.

People have long questioned the ‘talk left but do right’ attitude and activities of the SACP. They talk revolutionary and the establishment of socialism, but they are in fact in the trappings of capitalism- created wealth and partake in the entrenchment of capital bourgeois and capital class.
The SACP is long dead they actually kept alive by the ANC. They SACP is dying a slow death. They have no right to talk.
