Decor exhibition poised to ignite Gauteng with fresh vision and purpose

By: ANG Reporter

Gauteng is hosting the 29th edition of Decorex Africa from Wednesday 28 to Sunday 31 July at the Sandton Convention Centre.

On the forefront of décor, design, and lifestyle trends for almost three decades, Decorex Africa is the largest premier décor exhibition portfolio in Africa and the staging of this event in Gauteng reaffirms the destination’s positioning as Africa’s entertainment and lifestyle hub.

As the event reimagines its evolution, Decorex Joburg and 100% Design move to the Sandton Convention Centre, whose world-class facilities reflect its vision for the future. As a technologically advanced, centrally located conference centre, enhanced by the introduction of the Gautrain, the venue ensures unmatched accessibility for design lovers from across Gauteng – and further afield.

More than 700 businesses will be exhibiting to over 45 000 visitors expected over the next four days.

Decorex brings premium exhibitors, trade, retail, and consumer visitors to encourage business as well as showcase the latest design trends. The platform caters for both trade and consumers and will inspire by creating an experience for visitors while allowing brands to stay top of mind to visitors.

Decorex Africa will also provide an opportunity to support local artisanal design by supporting up-and-coming local talent, designers, and students in various ways very much synonymous with Gauteng’s vision of local production for local consumption and interface.

The platform will provide 49% opportunities to SMME businesses and youth programmes, and 51% to medium and established businesses. As we reimagine and reignite fresh vision, this without a doubt should be youth-driven and design thinking, and innovation-focused.

Gauteng Tourism Authority (GTA) has prioritized SMME development and believes in creating market access opportunities through collaborations with such events.

“Small businesses especially those found and operate in our townships suffered tremendously during the height of COVID-19 infections and lockdown. It is our responsibility and priority to make our tourism sector recovery work SMME focused and driven,” explained GTA chief executive Sthembiso Dlamini.

“As the GTA, we are excited by the prospects of the sector opening and returning to full service with the staging of quality events forming an integral part of our destination offerings. The tourism, hospitality, and entertainment sectors suffered the most in the past 24 months with little to no income, increased job losses, and closure of some of the venues and supporting infrastructure.

“It is exciting to see event and exhibition venues such as Sandton Convention Centre getting back to full operation. The tourism industry is well on its way to recovery and our quality events are once again at the forefront of reigniting this sector,” added Dlamini.

Decorex Joburg opens at 10 am to 6 pm from Thursday 28 July to Sunday 31 July 2022.
