The Solidarity Research Institute (SRI) will on Thursday issue a report on the Eskom power crisis. The organisation said teport would specifically focus on solutions to the crisis.

“The SRI report will indicate how the power crisis has affected the South African economy. It will also show how it is the single biggest obstacle to economic growth and the biggest contributor to job losses, the organization said in a statement.

“The report will also provide a forecast of what South Africa could expect by 2035 in light of the government’s energy plan and by taking into account the phasing out of coal power stations.”

“The report examines international case studies as possible solutions to the problem and will put forward four major recommendations.

Solidarity will also announce drastic steps which could have a significant impact on the power crisis.”

“The SRI report provides one of the best summaries of the power crisis and it makes practical recommendations coming from Solidarity for drastic action. Solidarity trusts that the report and the steps for action it proposes will contribute towards bringing about a positive change of direction in the power crisis. The time for it has come.”
