The top leadership of the Patriotic Alliance met with their DA counterparts on Friday 26 November to discuss different possibilities.
“We met for two hours and great respect was shown towards one another and our different viewpoints,” said PA president Gayton McKenzie
He added: “The DA wanted to know if we as the PA are seeing our way open to work with them in Joburg, Ekhuruleni and Tshwane, we told them that the PA leadership is still standing by our earlier promise of working with any party to create jobs and opportunities.”
“We also informed the DA leadership that we as the PA are still standing by our earlier demands and the ball is in their court now, we made same demands to ANC.”
McKenzie said the DA is taking back the PA’s demands to the DA Federal Executive and would revert back in due course.
“We also informed them that we shall stay true to our agreements with ANC, GOOD, IFP, Sugar Party, PAC and other smaller parties with whom we are in coalition in other municipalities.”
McKenzie heaped praise on his second-in-command Kenny Kunene and DA leader John Steenhuisen for showing maturity “and respect for each other, unlike other political party leaders who treat other party leaders as enemies”.
