Another fire has destroyed a structure in the North West province.
Patients had to be evacuated at the Christiana Hospital when a fire engulfed the building.
The cause of the fire is still unknown, but it’s believed to have emanated from the construction site. Departmental spokesperson Tebogo Lekgethwane said the entire hospital was affected by the fire.
“Patients having been evacuated, and arrangements are being made to transfer them to nearby health facilities. Luckily, there are no reports of any injuries or deaths due to this fire,” said Lekgethwane.
The fire at the hospital followed that of Mmabatho Palms Hotel this morning. The iconic venue was gutted to the ground by fire in the early hours of Wednesday. The MEC of health was expected to visit the hospital and assess the damage.
