A motorist had to be taken to hospital on Monday after surviving a robbery following a puncture.
The motorist was the latest victim of the spiking that has been on the rise on the N1 highway near Hammanskraal. Emer-G-Med paramedics arrived on to a man seated in his vehicle with a gunshot wound to his leg.
“He was treated and stabilized on the scene before being taken to a nearby hospital for further care. Further information ascertained alleges that the man was forced to stop on the highway after his tyres blew out from an object in the roadway,” said Kyle van Reenen, Emer-G-Med spokesperson.
“Once the vehicle had stopped, he was approached by an unknown number of suspects who robbed and shot him.”
Van Reenen further added the South African Police Services (SAPS) were in attendance and will be conducting the necessary investigations accordingly.
