The Democratic Alliance in Saldanha Bay has removed the monument that was honouring Marius Koen finishing his term as a mayor.
Africa News Global reported on Thursday how Twitter was abuzz after Patriotic Alliance President Gayton McKenzie posted that Koen had unveiled a statue of himself after being the first mayor to finish a term using state money.
There had been mixed reactions to it with @Clint_ZA saying: “A few lies in this. It’s not a statue of him, it was not unveiled by him and I can’t find confirmation that it was state-funded. If it was, it is not the expensive metal statue others use.”
However, on Friday morning the monument had been removed. It was not known why exactly it had been removed.
