Umghubo weNJEJE noNxamalala: Celebrating 7 years of the inception of INJEJE by the late Zulu King Zwelithini kaBhekuzulu of the Zulu monarchy & President Jacob Zuma’s 80 years milestone

The INJEJE yabeNGUNI Council in partnership with the JACOB G ZUMA FOUNDATION and the community of kwaNxamalala under iNkosi Bhekumuzi Zuma officially announce plans to host a once in a lifetime celebration dubbed “UMGUBHO WENJEJE noNXAMALALA” in Nkandla.

INJEJE was formed in April 2015 by the late ISILO saseNaleni, uMdlokombane vuk’udl’amadoda, King Zwelithini kaBhekuzulu – the Zulu Monarchy

The council is a regiment that departs from the conventional in that its mandate is to preserve and protect the dignity of the Nguni people of the country and continent by means of activism and intervention. Ours is to be an ever-growing regiment that becomes a platform in which abeNguni can gather together to discuss ‘ezegula’ beyond party political formations. Our motto ‘Ngingo khokho bami’ simply translated ‘I am my ancestors’ is the philosophy that governs our Council’s existence, as it is they who taught us to defend our right to self-determination and self-sufficiency without hesitancy. It is because of their sacrifices that we today are under no illusion as to the purpose of our own revolutionary existence and hence INJEJE is inherently biased towards the native people of the country and continent in the absence of apologies. We are thus a legacy of the late King Zwelithini kaBhekuzulu whom we shall do well to honor at UMGUBHO WENJEJE noNXAMALALA.

H. E President Jacob G Zuma is a Nguni elder that took a conscious decision at the tender age of 17, to join the liberation struggle against Apartheid, a system that was declared a crime against humanity. Since that decision, decade upon decade he has committed himself wholeheartedly to the total emancipation of the oppressed, dispossessed, and ostracized majority of our country. He has tirelessly worked hard to ensure that the African child has a better future primarily through education.

H.E President Jacob Zuma launched the Jacob G Zuma RDP Education Trust which bore the Jacob G Zuma name in the interest of providing pertinent financial and other support to youth that come from poor backgrounds. Next month, in April, uNxamalala will be reaching an 80-year milestone which is something that as Nguni people we are compelled to celebrate and honor his over 60 years of selfless service to the people of the country and continent.

Commenting on these celebrations INdunankulu Phumlani kaMfeka of INJEJE yabeNGUNI Council said, “Our council and members are excited to be able to celebrate our 7-year inception by the late King Zwelithini kaBhekuzulu in conjunction with celebrating uNxamalala turning 80 years. President Zuma is a world icon and he is a highly revered Nguni elder who has committed his entire life to ensuring that we reside in a liberated and equal society. The celebration promises to be a phenomenal affair, we will be inviting leaders of all political parties that represent native people in the main, we will also invite progressive thinking business people and most importantly we will be inviting Nguni Royal houses. We call on all our members across the country and beyond to descend in their droves to Nkandla as this is a once-in-a-lifetime celebration. It will be majestic!”

Remarking on these celebrations H. E President Zuma stated “I am very happy and humbled that INJEJE yabeNGUNI has chosen to celebrate its 7th year anniversary since its inception by our late Zulu King in conjunction with celebrating my turning 80 years of age in our humble village of kwaNxamalala. I am particularly pleased because INJEJE since its inception positioned itself as an important voice for the African people of the country having raised sharply pertinent issues around land, race relations, economic disparities, and issues around the institution of royalty. I am hoping that with the passage of time, they (INJEJE yabeNGUNI Council) will discuss an important issue of African unity to overcome our challenges, as it was discussed when uMbutho weSizwe (the ANC) was established. Under the leadership of iNduna Phumlani kaMfeka, the council has become a home where Africans can gather together beyond party political divisions and discuss issues that affect them as African people.

I think this is very important and must be supported, especially since iNduna uMfeka is from a family of uMkhonto weSizwe veterans and thus was born and bred ANC yet irrespective of this, was able in the 7 years he has led INJEJE to make it a council where Africans of all political formations are able to join and not feel pressurized in any political party direction. This is the type of unifying leadership that the youth of our country must emulate. Once again I am thankful and humbled.”

UMGUBHO WENJEJE noNXAMALALA will feature two celebrity co-hosts, renowned guest speakers, Nguni maidens and amabutho eNgoma, powerful poets and entertainment lineup especially of musicians who have demonstrated public endorsement for H. E President Jacob Zuma through their music and other exciting surprises.
