ANCWL tell Sisulu that Ramaphosa was imposed on them by Baleka Mbete

By: ANG Reporter

Members of the ANC Women’s League (ANCWL) in Gauteng have reassured Tourism Minister and ANC presidential hopeful Lindiwe Sisulu of their support ahead of the ruling party’s elective conference which kicks off on Friday. The women were speaking at Sisulu’s signature program hosted by Gauteng ANC Women’s League (ANCWL) in Soweto on Sunday to conduct head count of delegates.

The women, gathered at Nkone Maupin Primary School in Braamfischer emphasised that as female delegates, they never nominated President Cyril Ramaphosa as their candidate. They said they know Sisului as their only candidate. They told Sisulu that Ramaphosa was imposed on them by the former Speaker of Parliament Baleka Mbete.

The women gave Sisulu a mandate, especially on matters ranging from the fight against socials ills such as gender-based violence and easy access to drugs by their children. They also tasked Sisulu with economic emancipation of women. The women endorsed Sisulu as their candidate at the ANC national conference and they indicated that they would work with any man who is not hostile to women leadership and emancipation of women.

The women told Sisulu to vote for the right thing in Parliament on Tuesday and she will never be expelled by people “who joined the ANC yesterday for positions and tenders”.

The women were referring to President Cyril Ramaphosa’s allies, specifically ANC chairperson Gwede Mantashe who is pushing for the expulsion of ANC MPs who plan to vote against the party line on the section 89 independent panel of experts’ report that found Ramaphosa may have violated the constitution in his handling of the theft of foreign currency at his Phala Phala farm in Limpopo.

Mantashe has warned that ANC MPs who failed to toe the party line to reject the establishment of an impeachment inquiry should leave the ANC and become independent candidates.

And did she chicken out of the Section 89 parliamentary debate? I saw her during the debate but she was nowhere to be found during the voting. Nkosazana is a more braver candidate though irrelevant.
