The ANC Youth League in Vhembe has launched an attack on Cosatu President Zingiswa Losi following her comments on Tourism Minister Lindiwe Sisulu’s article.
The organisation as aid Losi should focus on dealing with the high levels of unemployment and to stay out of politics.
The organisation’s Enerst Gogome said Losi has opted to make it her call to attack Sisulu for exercising her democratic right.
“In her attack of Cde Sisulu, it became clear that she either had a challenge of comprehension on themes of the article or she was factionally instructed to attack Cde Sisulu at all costs,” Gogome said.
“We would have expected her to call Cde Sisulu for clarity-seeking questions, instead she went for glory through the media by attacking, something which is foreign to the culture of the ANC.”
Sisulu’s article on the Constitution and the justice system in the country has solicited differing opinions from sectors of society. Some have taken the posture of attacking Sisulu and not engaged on the article’s content.
Gogome added that it would have gained Losi a lot of credibility had she intellectually engaged the article, as it talks to issues of economic injustice, poverty, unemployment, managed wealth, and land.
“Cosatu President threaded away from these as it a least of importance to her mind. The Comradely advice we want to convey to Cosatu President is for her to stick to labour issues and leave ANC matters to ANC leaders, as you have never heard Cde Sisulu pronouncing on Cosatu matters. After all, she (Sisulu) is not accountable to Cosatu, but to us the ANC membership as we have deployed her,” he said.
“As things stand, we wish to remind you that when you expected to be vocal on Marikana, Phoenix Massacre and the recent R 11 billion “loan”, rising unemployment rate and corruption cases that were reported by Cde Sisulu to law enforcement agencies you kept quiet. We noted that. Please stick to your Cosatu lane and allow Cde Sisulu on her ANC lane if you can’t match her intellectually,” he added.
Gogome advised Losi to learn some more about the organisation.
“We, therefore, plead with the ANC Leadership to consider taking Cosatu President to the School of Leadership, so that at least she gets the basic modules on Leadership. Lastly for Losi to tell us that Sisulu must leave the ANC is the last straw and it explains all the reasons she must be urgently admitted at the O.R Tambo School of Leadership. At the time when Sisulu was busy trying to liberate us, Losi was not even a political zygote. If Sisulu is a threat and an obstacle to people such Losi’s unbridled ambitions, Losi and the likes must just live with the reality that Sisulu is the ANC, she is us and we are Sisulu,” he said.
