Former Idols Judge Somizi Mhlongo has been blocked from going to Zimbabwe by the Apostle Christian Council for his sexuality. The reality tv star was booked to appear as a guest chef at the re-opening of Garwe Restaurant on the 4th of November in Harare.
In a letter addressed to Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa and other ministries in his cabinet, the Apostolic Christian Council of Zimbabwe (ACCZ) said: “Somizi is a homosexual, hence according to our People’s driven constitution, Zimbabwe doesn’t tolerate homosexuality.”
“It is, therefore, our question, If we allow Somizi to come to our land, spirituality we would have been disturbed a lot, and physically we would have openly accepted homosexuality In Zimbabwe hence affecting our children,” they further added.
The ZANU PF warned that allowing the Media Personality to come will affect the revolutionary party by disturbing the 5 million votes win needed in the next 2023 election, “for it is publicly known that our party strongly stands against homosexuality,” said the council in their statement.
The media personality responded on an Instagram video, explaining that it’s not the first time this had happened to him, and he is okay with it.
“I will not stop speaking on behalf of those who cannot speak up for themselves. I will advocate for that and if it means I should die for it, so be it. But this is sad, very sad and I hope things get better.”
Zimlive announced on Twitter that singer Kelly Khumalo is to replace Celebrity chef Somizi at the official opening of Garwe restaurant.
